The research aimed to identify the impact of using graphic organizer strategies on developing visual thinking skills among sixth-grade students in historical subjects. The researchers adopted an experimental approach with two equivalent groups. The study sample consisted of 45 students, divided into two groups that were equivalent in several variables (chronological age, intelligence, pre-test visual thinking scores). The experimental group included 24 students who studied historical topics using graphic organizer strategies, while the control group included 21 students who studied the same material using the traditional method.
The researchers prepared a visual thinking skills test consisting of 20 items, which was reviewed by a panel of experts in teaching methods, educational sciences, and psychology. The test's reliability was verified using Cronbach's alpha, which reached 0.79, in addition to assessing its psychometric properties. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS software.
The results showed a statistically significant difference in the development of visual thinking skills in favor of the experimental group that studied using graphic organizers. Based on the findings, the researchers drew several conclusions and provided recommendations, as well as suggestions for future research topics.
