This research examines the poem " Lost love" by Saudi poet Amina Nasser as a poetic model that embodies the emotional and social dimensions of the contemporary female experience. The study aims to analyze the linguistic and stylistic elements in the original text and then compare them with the text translated into French, focusing on the cultural challenges facing the translator when conveying emotional connotations and symbolic contexts. The study adopts an analytical-descriptive approach that traces the components of poetic construction in terms of rhythmic and semantic structure, and presents how poetic language is employed to express emotional rupture and nostalgia. The importance of this research also emerges in shedding light on the role literary translation plays in preserving textual identity and promoting cultural dialogue. The study is divided into several axes, including an analysis of the linguistic structure, translation strategies, and the sociocultural dimension of the poem, opening up broader horizons for understanding the poet's poetic production across the two languages. The theoretical part provides a brief overview of the poet's life and literary career, focusing on how poetic language is employed as a tool to transform individual feelings into a collective human experience. This section also discusses the cultural and social challenges the poet faced in expressing issues of women and identity, as well as university students' responses to the poem and the difficulties they encounter when translating it into other languages.
The practical section relies on analyzing samples of university students' readings of the poem, with the aim of understanding their comprehension of poetic meanings and symbolic connotations, and evaluating their methods of analyzing the text from a linguistic and cultural perspective. The research contributes to shedding light on the importance of poetry in developing the recipient's aesthetic and intellectual sense, and calls for the development of methods for teaching literary translation in the university environment.
