The study designed to identify "the effectiveness of the cooperative learning strategy in developing convergent thinking and attitudes towards the Arabic language subject among first-year middle school students." To achieve the study objective, the researcher tracked the descriptive and quasi-experimental approach in this study. The study model involved (37) students from the first intermediate grade, the number of experimental students was (19) students, and the number of control students was (18) who were selected randomly, from Suhaib Al-Rumi School for Boys for the academic year 2023/2022.
To response the study hypotheses, the researcher organized a convergent thinking test consisting of (20) multiple-choice questions, and a questionnaire on students’ attitudes towards the Arabic language subject consisting of (10) paragraphs. The test was applied to the study model after verifying its validity and consistency. The researcher used arithmetic means, standard deviations, and the t-test for two independent samples to compare the arithmetic means of each of the group variables. The study displayed the next results: There were statistically significant variances attributed to the effect of the teaching strategy in favor of the experimental group, and that the students’ attitudes toward the Arabic language were positive and to a moderate degree.
Developing the mental skills of learners, facilitating their comprehension accordingly, and improving their ability to retrieve information, considering that its use is based on integrating previous data with new information.
