Lmam Shams al-Din al-Sakhawi (d. 902 AH/1497 CE) and his methodology in his book al-Tuhfah al –Latifahfl AKhbar al-Madinah al – Sharifah

Abstract

The topic of the research (the nice masterpiece in the news of the honorable city) included news about the people of Thebes since the second century AH until just before the death of the author in the year 902 AH/1497 AD. He mentioned dates related to the year 902 AH، So he mentioned the news of its people، the strangers who entered it and settled there for a year، on the condition that they narrated it، issued fatwas، or studied it. Therefore،this book contains a Iarge number of transIations The author began his book with a brief useful mention of the fragrant prophet،s birth of the Chosen One (may God bless him and grant him peace) until his death. He mentioned his name and lineage، his position among the Quraysh before the mission، and the honors that accompanied him since his childhood، then his work in trade، and his marriage to Mrs. Khadija (may God be pleased with her)، then he mentioned the beginning of the revelation descending upon him and the events that accompanied that until his death (may Gods prawers and peace be uponhim). Then he touched on the conditions of tae honorable city، mentioning the urban builbings there، most notably the Prophet is M0sque، and mentioning important places such as the remembrance of Al- Baqi and the schools in its vicinity. Which were arranged according to the letters of the dictionary، and these translations were not limited to one type of translator، as they included companions، followers، and juists، and among them were kings and  princes who held positions of government in Thebes. The author was not content with conveying the news about his translations relying only on those who came before him، but rather he spoke about it on his own initiative.
