Abstract

The current research aims to identify the importance of the roles played by the social researcher during his professional practice in the field of the social protection network, and the research also aims to identify the most prominent field obstacles faced by the social researcher in his field visits to people who apply for the social protection program, and the research relied on the descriptive-analytical study method and the use of the social survey method by a comprehensive inventory of social researchers in the Social Protection Department (Babylon Governorate) and men and women (88) social researchers across Babylon Governorate. The research came up with a set of results, the most prominent of which are: (55.7%) of the respondents said that social assistance applicants do not know the nature of the social researcher's work while visiting them. (77.3%) of the respondents believe that they are qualified to work as social workers. (66%) of the respondents believe that there is an overlap in the data required from social assistance applicants in the alternative income form, and therefore it needs to be modified so that each case has its own form. There is no doubt that this role involves several aspects, including developmental, preventive, and therapeutic, which are at the heart of his field work and require him to deal with various situations resulting from his communication with clients. Therefore, the nature of this role will undoubtedly be reflected through his field visits to those seeking social assistance, as the social researcher needs to deal with each case individually.
