Abstract

There is no doubt that studying the impact of the problem-solving method on the acquisition of geography for second-year intermediate school students is one of the important matters that leads to the development of achievement and cognitive motivation in acquiring geographical information and concepts included in the textbook curriculum. The researcher used the experimental method when approaching the study by defining the research objective. Its hypothesis is based on selecting a sample of female students in the second intermediate grade at (Zahrat Al-Furat Girls’ Secondary School) affiliated with (the General Directorate of Education in Babylon), Two groups of female students in the second intermediate year were chosen, one of them experimental and the other control. The research sample amounted to (71) female students, with (35) female students in the experimental group and (36) female students in the control group. The most important results of the research can be summarized by concluding that using a solution method The problems have great effectiveness in teaching, reducing learning difficulties, and increasing the achievement of second-year intermediate school students in geography, As well as in stimulating their motivation towards further learning, teaching according to the problem-solving method is more effective than the traditional method in understanding and retaining geographical information and concepts, as it had a major role in making the female students of the third intermediate year more absorbing information in the subject of geography, taking into account the individual differences between them in While presenting the material and submitting it.
