Abstract

The relations between Austria- Hungary and Italy were characterized by a state of intense competition for influence in Albania to achieve its interests, Each of these countries aspired to achieve its goals. Italy wanted to restore the glories of the Roman Empire, so it entered the field of colonial competition, and this ambition applies to Austria. Hungary, as the desire to obtain the largest possible number of colonies aims to gain a position among the major colonial powers, It also made it the focus of attention of countries and an arena for competition between major powers, especially those neighboring it. Most countries sought to establish themselves as a major player in an attempt to extend their influence in Albania to achieve goals related to their plans to dominate the region and monopolize it in the service of their national interests. In this research, we have reviewed the stages of that competition since the Berlin Conference in 1878 AD, until the renewal of the Triple Alliance between Austria- Hungary, Germany, and Italy in 1878-1907 AD, After the introduction and summary, the research included a brief geographical description that clarifies the geographical and strategic importance of Albania to both countries, The research then touched on the importance of Albania to Austria-Hungary, and highlighted the importance of Albania to Italy, After that, we moved to reviewing the stages of competition between the two countries leading to the renewal of the Triple Alliance, The research came up with conclusions that were stated at the end of the research.
