Spatial variation of the per capita share of green spaces and public parks in the city of Hit for the year 2022/2023 AD

Abstract

            Green areas, recreational areas (parks), and public gardens are among the most important community services that must be provided in cities. The aim of its study is to determine the efficiency of its spatial distribution, its adequacy, and to know the per capita share at the level and neighborhoods of the city of Hit, as well as to analyze its reality. The study included two chapters, the first chapter dealt with the theoretical framework, while the second chapter dealt with the study area in terms of location and the temporal and spatial boundaries of the study area, as well as some terminology.

The third chapter dealt with the classification of green spaces in the urban space and the development of the sizes of green spaces in the city of Hit, as well as the per capita share of green spaces at the city and neighborhood levels. It also showed the per capita share of parks (public parks). It also touched on the numerical distribution of parks, as the city of Hit contains The study was conducted on 22 public parks, according to data from the Hit Municipality Directorate - its parks division, distributed among eight neighborhoods only, while the remaining seven neighborhoods of the city are unserved. Al-Jarrasa also reached results stating that there is no justice in the distribution of parks and public gardens at the neighborhood level and that some neighborhoods are deprived of them. Also, the per capita share is less than the specified planning standard.

The study recommended the need to follow equitable spatial distribution between neighborhoods and take into account the population density of each neighborhood. Increasing the serviced areas and creating public gardens and parks in neighborhoods that lack them. It also recommended making use of geographic information systems in planning and determining the locations of parks and public gardens in the city. Increasing the per capita share of green areas in the city of Hit, as well as the necessity of spreading environmental awareness among residents in preserving green spaces and not causing harm to parks and public gardens.
