Abstract

This research aims to study the challenges and opportunities facing political parties in both Iraq and France by analyzing the political, social, and institutional environments in which these parties operate, and by examining their impact on promoting democracy and political stability. The research focuses on the main challenges facing Iraqi parties, such as sectarian and ethnic divisions, low public trust, corruption, foreign interference, and the weak institutional structures of some parties. It also addresses the challenges facing French parties, including the decline of traditional party affiliation, the rise of populist movements, political polarization, and voter apathy. Conversely, the research highlights the opportunities available to political parties in both countries, such as the growing role of youth, the development of digital communication tools, and the potential for developing political programs more responsive to citizens' needs, as well as opportunities for political reform and strengthening democratic participation. The research concludes that the success of political parties in Iraq and France requires adopting strategies based on enhancing transparency and internal democracy, renewing political discourse, expanding the participation of youth and women, and building national programs capable of addressing contemporary challenges and achieving development and political stability.
