Imam Ali’s (peace be upon him) Exegetical Insights in Surah Al-Baqarah: An Analytical Study

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Imam Ali's interpretation of selected verses from Surah Al-Baqarah, extracted from sources like Nahj al-Balagha and other texts that include his interpretations. Imam Ali is a central figure in Islam, and his interpretations provide deep insights into the Quranic text, reflecting his profound understanding and comprehensive grasp of religion, language, and rhetoric. This study employs an analytical methodology to compare Imam Ali's interpretations with other interpretations of the same verses, highlighting the differences and similarities between his approach and others.

Imam Ali's interpretation is crucial for understanding how early Muslims interacted with the Quranic text and how his interpretations provide a unique and in-depth dimension to the texts. Moreover, the study emphasizes the linguistic and rhetorical aspects used by Imam Ali in his interpretation, reflecting the depth of his understanding and his ability to provide interpretations characterized by precision and intellectual depth. The findings are expected to enhance Muslims' understanding of Quranic interpretation traditions and deepen the recognition of religious interpretation as an integral part of Islamic faith.
