The concept of interdisciplinary studies is relatively modern among sociology professors in Libyan universities. Given its significant scientific and practical importance in current research across various disciplines, not just sociology, this approach facilitates a deeper and more accurate understanding of contemporary social issues by addressing their multifaceted nature, ultimately contributing to new solutions or proposals. In light of this, this research aims to answer the following primary question: What is the reality of interdisciplinary studies in sociology departments within Libyan universities, and what are the institutional challenges they face? To achieve this, the current study employed a descriptive methodology and a purposive sampling technique, targeting 55 faculty members from sociology departments.
