Abstract

This study aims to reveal the role played by boys' novels in representing and consolidating values in this age group, through a study of the duality of positive and negative values that are manifested in events, characters, and narrative situations. The importance of this topic stems from the fact that literature, as one of the most important cultural and educational tools, plays an influential role in shaping the consciousness of boys and girls, and developing their intellectual and moral tendencies, in a way that contributes to building their personalities and strengthening their belonging to their society. Literary works also provide various behavioral models that help the recipient distinguish between desirable and undesirable values, which promotes acceptance of positive values such as goodness, love, tolerance, cooperation, and beauty, and limits the impact of negative values and the effects they may have on individual and social behavior. The study relies on the use of modern critical approaches, especially cultural criticism, to uncover the mechanisms of representing these values in fictional texts, analyze their cultural and social connotations, and show the extent to which they are consistent with the value system adopted by society. In light of this, the study seeks to highlight the importance of boys' novels as an effective cultural and educational tool that contributes to instilling human and moral values, and enhancing awareness among young people, in order to achieve a balance between artistic pleasure and the educational message.
