Opening Terms: Islamic Sources, Prophet SuleimanAbstract
God Almighty granted Prophet Suleiman (pbuh) many miracles, such as subjecting the wind, the jinn, and humankind to his command, as well as teaching him the language of birds. This study highlights the qualities that distinguished Prophet Suleiman (pbuh), which led God to bestow upon him such miracles. The information presented by the researcher is based on the Holy Qur’an and primary sources. The Qur’an itself rises above any narrative that diminishes the status of Prophet Suleiman (pbuh), for all Qur'an stories are objective, filled with lessons and admonitions, free from distortion or false interpretation, with the ultimate aim of guiding people to reflect and take heed. However, some of these stories were later distorted by certain early sources—historians and exegetes—through the inclusion of Isra’iliyyat, which infiltrated Arabic sources due to Jewish hostility and their attempt to tarnish Suleiman's legacy. Nevertheless, reliable primary sources have presented his life and story with historical objectivity, grounded in the Holy Qur’an.
