Alienation of Spiritual Aspiration and the Manifestations of Mystical Wayfaring in the Mirror of Poetry: A Case Study of M elayê Cizîrî's Poem The Fire of Separation

Abstract

​"Alienation of Resolve and Behavioral Phenomena in the Mirror of Poetry: A Study of the Poem 'The Fire of Separation' by Melayé Cezîrî as a Model" is a title that delves into the realm of Sufism and the expression of literary gems. When mysticism (Irfan) becomes the raw material for the divine mystic and creative poet Melayé Cezîrî, the distinctive literary expressions and ideas within this spiritual edifice become a focal point for analysis and study.

​Accordingly, through an introduction and two main pillars—utilizing an analytical research methodology—this study analyzes the poem "The Fire of Separation," which consists of 42 verses. It highlights the mutual influence between literature and Sufism by tracking the shifting spiritual states (Ahwal) within the poem and conducting a psychological analysis of its literary expressions. Furthermore, the structural form of the poem is analyzed by examining the poetic prelude and epilogue, discursive paths, keywords, and the "foreign body" within the text.

At the conclusion of the research, the most significant findings are presented. Chief among them is that the poem "The Fire of Separation" is a portrayal of the conflict between reason and intellect on one hand, and the soul and desire on the other. The sheer agonizing difficulty of this separation is embodied in the extended length of the poem's verses. In this poem, spiritual states (Ahwal) play a greater role compared to spiritual stations (Maqamat). Since Ahwal represent fast-paced, psychological, and mental conflicts, they infuse the verses with suspense and movement, rendering the poetic imagery a long-lasting literary masterpiece. Conversely, the Maqamat instill wisdom into the poetry, enriching the text ethically and substantiating its content, which ultimately provides the reader with contentment and psychological tranquility.
