The shift from adopting extremist thought to engaging in terrorist action constitutes a critical juncture in the trajectory of violent extremism. While adherence to radical ideologies does not necessarily result in violence, identifying the mechanisms that signal this transformation is fundamental for prevention and counteraction. The main mechanisms can be observed through: Behavioral indicators: such as unexplained social withdrawal or an increasing willingness to employ violence. Communicational indicators: reflected in discourse changes on digital platforms, including the transition from ideological justification to explicit calls for action.Security indicators :involving attempts to acquire weapons or restricted materials, or establishing links with terrorist networks.Psychological indicator: including heightened feelings of marginalization and injustice, intensified revenge motives, and the pursuit of a militant identity.Incorporating these indicators into an early-warning framework enhances the capacity of security and community institutions to intervene preventively before extremist beliefs materialize into terrorist acts, thereby reinforcing the effectiveness of counterterrorism and counter-extremism strategies.
