The research aims to reveal the reality of residential regions in the city of Hillah, by relying on several criteria to classify the city into residential regions according to the composition of residential units, which include (housing area, building materials, roof, number of floors, rooms, and the profession of the head of the household). The research followed the descriptive analytical approach in explaining the impact of the above-mentioned factors in determining residential regions in the city. The office work method was followed by reviewing sources and using field studies. The research reached several results, the most important of which is that the number of neighborhoods whose specifications were organized according to the specifications of the upscale urban style reached (52) residential neighborhoods, i.e. a percentage of (53%) of the total number of residential neighborhoods in the city of Hillah. The residents of this region are distinguished by their high economic and cultural level, as most of the residents of this sector were able, thanks to their good financial ability, to make their residential environment upscale. The displacement region includes (29) residential neighborhoods, and the most important feature of these homes is their eastern style that is mixed with the western style. The main streets are also distinguished by being wide, as some The shops between these neighborhoods have modern specifications. The poverty region includes (17) residential neighborhoods, which constitute (17.3%) of the total neighborhoods of the city. Retail and wholesale shops are spread, especially in the main streets. Most of these neighborhoods are characterized by their poverty in many services.
