Al-Khalal's approach and his position on artificial evidence

Abstract

Sheikh Zayn al-Din Omar ibn Muzaffar ibn Omar al-Wardi (749 AH) is one of the grammatical books that scholars after him were interested in, and they focused on explaining and studying it, as commentators came after Ibn al-Wardi and tried to reveal, explain and simplify the contents of this book, and among the commentators of this book was Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Alaa al-Khalal. Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Khalal, whose methodology is clearly evident in his commentary, through explaining vocabulary, solving issues and opening closed doors, his approach was comprehensive to the issues of the book, in addition to the emergence of his scientific personality in discussing opinions and favouring what he considers more correct and stronger than others, proving this with evidence and testimonies. This scientificity emerged through my study of his methodology in mentioning the evidence that he relied on in his commentary, as well as in his methods of transmission, so his scientificity in grammatical composition emerged, and this emerged in his general approach, features and scientific characteristics; therefore, I tried in this research to show the general features of Al-Khalal's approach, because this reveals the way he dealt with the grammatical material, and whether he succeeded in it or not.
