Abstract

This study aims to review the role of the family in reforming and rehabilitating young criminals from the perspective of Islamic law and man-made laws. The family is considered the first and most important social institution, and it has a fundamental role in shaping the personality and behavior of children. In Islamic law, the family is an educational unit that bears great responsibilities in raising children correctly and correcting their behavior. Islamic principles and values stress the importance of the role of parents in directing and monitoring children’s behavior, and call on parents to provide a healthy and safe environment to prevent the commission of crimes. Statutory laws also give importance to the role of the family in raising and reforming young criminals. Many legal systems seek to reduce crime rates by creating family support programs and providing parenting instruction. Civil and criminal laws contribute to providing solutions for family intervention at various stages of the judicial system, which helps in the reform and rehabilitation of young criminals. Ultimately, studying the role of the family in reforming and rehabilitating young criminals shows that constructive interaction between the family and the judicial system can contribute to reducing crime rates and improving the social status of young people.
