Moral Conviction and Its Relationship to Self-Intelligence among University Students

Abstract

The current research sample consisted of (400) male and female students from the University of Baghdad, undergraduate students, who were selected randomly according to gender (males, females) and specialization (scientific, humanities) for the academic year (2024-2025). To achieve the objectives of the current research, the researcher adopted the moral conviction scale prepared by (Al-Khattabi, 2022) as the scale was prepared according to the theory of (2008), Skitka et al) and the scale in its final form consists of (39) paragraphs distributed among four components which the scale includes (perceptual objectivity consisting of (10) paragraphs, moral independence consisting of (10) paragraphs, commitment and moral motivation consisting of (10) paragraphs and commitment and moral feelings consisting of (9) paragraphs, and preparing the self-intelligence scale according to Gardner’s theory (Gardenr, 1983) based on Al-Hashemi’s scale (2010) and Al-Hashemi’s scale (2018) and Al-Shammari’s scale (2020) and the scale consists of (30) paragraphs

The problem of moral conviction among university students has become one of the problems of the modern era, leading to the spread of negative moral traits, when the moral system is influenced by foreign cultures and when there is an opportunity to gain material benefit that leads to the weakening of moral values.
