Abstract

The problem of domestic violence is considered one of the serious social issues affecting both individuals and society, particularly during childhood, as a result of a dysfunction in the role of family upbringing.           Addressing this issue requires an objective understanding and analysis of its true magnitude, as children are the most affected victims among all other groups, especially when they are subjected to the most heinous forms of abuse and violation by their families due to domestic disputes such as divorce, family breakdown, and the resulting disintegration among family members

This research addressed the phenomenon of domestic violence from an analytical sociological perspective, which aims to uncover its causes and determine its effects on the individual and society, in addition to the mechanisms for reducing it and ways to address it, with a focus on the negative repercussions that affect the child’s development from the psychological, social and even cognitive aspects. The research reached a set of recommendations, including: strengthening family awareness programs and providing psychological support to families and children, as well as adopting a comprehensive vision for prevention with the participation of all community institutions to reduce the problems of domestic violence against children.

In this regard, we decided to cover aspects of this phenomenon according to main themes that included research elements , concepts and terminology, previous studies, theories that explain violence, the causes of domestic violence, the impact of violence, mechanisms to reduce it, strategies to address violence, recommendations, and a conclusion
