Minister and leader Abdul Hameed bin Baseel Al -Rumi his political and military role

Abstract

This study focuses on one of the great men in Islamic history, and one of the leaders of the Arab Islamic conquest in Andalusia, the leader and minister Abdul Hamid bin Basil Al-Rumi. He made strenuous efforts, great capabilities, and sacrificed himself in order to raise the word of God and make it supreme  .                                                                           

       The leader Abdul Hamid bin Basil - as the leader of the Arab Islamic army during the reign of Abd al-Rahman al-Nasir - fought many battles in Andalusia, and had many rounds and attacks, as he assumed the leadership of the army more than once, and for more than one campaign , and he performed well, so he got what he wanted, as he was able to achieve great victories over the Christian kingdoms, and those victories resulted in his enemies submitting to his authority in submission, and the countries submitted to him, which prompted his enemies to declare peace treaties with him. Abdul Hamid bin Basil proved his absolute loyalty to the Arab Islamic state , his concern for the safety of his soldiers, and his constant and continuous work to achieve the first goal of the Muslims, which is to spread Islam and its tolerant principles in those regions, with the aim of transferring them from the shackles of darkness to the horizons of honor, goodness, love, and prosperity. In addition to assuming command of the army, he assumed other important and important positions, such as the position of Minister of the Treasury and Finance in 304 AH/916 AD, in addition to the plan of writing and ministry, and the succession in the Caliph’s palace. Caliph Abd al-Rahman al-Nasir entrusted him with the city of Cordoba, and he excelled in its administration in 319 AH/931 AD. This is clear and bright evidence of the experience and capabilities he possessed, as he was able to manage it with great precision and care, as a result of what he acquired from his family, which had a long history in this field, as he grew up in an environment closely connected to matters of war and military service, in addition to what distinguished his family from complete knowledge of administrative matters and important positions, as his personality was refined from his early childhood, so he acquired many, many of its matters and requirements, which was a reason for choosing him and relying on him to perform these duties, tasks and positions .
