The second half of the twentieth century witnessed the emergence of new educational methods that enable students to rely on themselves, and one of these methods is (the semantic map), which aims primarily to pay attention to the learner, focus on him, and make him the focus of the educational process. Modern education emphasizes the semantic map, as it grants the student freedom in learning. This is what normal teaching methods do not provide, so the researcher decided to conduct a study on using a method that gives students the freedom to learn and practice their activities and gain better experiences and skills in order to reach better learning. As previously mentioned, the researcher conducted her research entitled (The effectiveness of using semantic maps in teaching science). general education and its impact on achievement and developing inclinations among fifth-grade primary school students. The research is limited to: A sample of fifth-grade female students in primary schools in the Babylon Governorate Center for the academic year 2021-2022 . The last two units of the Principles of Science book scheduled to be taught to the fifth grade of primary school, which are (magnets and electricity, the human body) . The second semester of the academic year 2021-2022 . In order to achieve the research goal, the following two null hypotheses were formulated : There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average grades of the students in the experimental group who are studying the Principles of Science subject using the semantic map and the grades of the students in the control group who are studying the Principles of Science subject in the normal way of achievement . There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the students in the experimental group who study the principles of science subject using mock games and the scores of the students in the control group who study the principles of science subject using the usual method in choosing the slope . An experimental design with partial control was chosen, with two groups (experimental and control), and Al-Wathba Primary School for Girls in the Babylon Governorate Center was randomly selected to conduct the experiment. The research sample consisted of (76) female students, with (38) female students for the experimental group and (38) female students for the control group. The experimental group was taught using mock games, while the control group was taught in the usual way, and both groups were rewarded in terms of variables (chronological age, the students’ grades in the Principles of Science subject in the mid-year test, parents’ achievement, and the students’ grades in the previous academic : The researcher prepared (95) behavioral objectives that covered the topics of the experiment. She also prepared model teaching plans for both groups, and the researcher herself taught the two research groups during the experiment, which lasted (9) weeks. The researcher prepared an achievement test that included (40) multiple-choice test items. The validity, reliability, ability to distinguish, level of difficulty of its items, and the effectiveness of its incorrect alternatives were verified. The researcher also prepared a propensity test consisting of (30) items and after processing the data statistically using T-selection. Test The following results appeared : There is a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the students in the experimental group who study the principles of science subject using the semantic map and the average scores of the students in the control group who study the principles of science subject in the normal way in achievement, in favor of the experimental group . There is a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average scores of the students in the experimental group who are studying the Principles of Science subject using the semantic map and the average scores of the students in the control group who are studying the Principles of Science subject in the usual way in the slope in favor of the experimental group . In light of the research results, the researcher recommended using the semantic map in teaching the principles of science subject for the primary stage. The researcher also suggested conducting similar studies in other stages and subjects for both genders and in other dependent variables such as useful thinking, scientific thinking, and others .
