Abstract

Al-Zaman Newspaper gave great, importance to Women and Their topics and supported and advocated Everything that raised the value and status of Iraqi women. It opposed conservative religious movements that rejected Women’s Equality with Men and the issue of Women’s unveiling. This came as a result of the religious affiliations of the Newspaper’s writers, most of whom were Christians, as well as other Members with communist tendencies. It supported all laws that called for preserving the rights of Iraqi women, especially the issuance of the Personal Status Law during the first republican era (1958-1963) and other legislation. Al-Zaman Newspaper allocated a special page concerned with Women’s affairs entitled (Women in the Field of Life), which was edited by the (League for the Defense of Women’s Rights),Through this league, women’s demands for the right to participate in Political decision-making and the right to Demonstrations and elections were made clear. In addition, Al-Zaman newspaper addressed issues related to Women and the danger of colloquial language to Women, so it called on the ministry to open Centers for teaching women, and it began working at a high level of the Iraqi cultural level for women in many aspects of our nights, and it provided them with advice and guidance.
