This study presents an analysis and critical edition of "The Chapter on Examples"—the fourth of the seven morphological chapters—in the book Fath al-Fattah bi Quwat al-Arwah fi Sharh al-Marrah, an obscure work by an equally lesser-known scholar. This book is one of the important yet missing commentaries on Marah al-Arwah, offering valuable insight for those interested in morphology studies and providing a significant addition to previous commentaries. The author, Shaykh Abd al-Wahhab al-Halabi, follows the original text’s structure by dividing it into seven chapters, while adding his own insights, corrections, and clarifications. His style is characterized by simplicity and clarity, skillfully weaving the text with his commentary in a refined and cohesive manner, making it nearly indistinguishable from the original text. This showcases al-Halabi's scholarly prowess and his skill in both formulation and composition. The work is rich in morphological issues and explanations, lending a distinctive character to the book The study revived an obscure book by an obscure scholar of the tenth century, introducing his personal and scientific biography, and showed that the book Fath al-Fattah is a new addition to the library of morphology, and a scientific value added to this art. The book (Fath al-Fattah) contained between its covers abundant linguistic materials, including a considerable number of structures and strange language, and Sheikh Abdul Wahhab explained and interpreted its obscure.References
