Guidance and counseling in morning programs on satellite television

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the nature of the directive and advisory content presented in morning programs on satellite television channels in terms of its topics, objectives, methods and sources of information. This research belongs to descriptive research, in which the researcher relied on the media survey approach in its analytical part, by relying on the content analysis tool for a sample of programmes. Al-Sabah, and the researcher identified his research population with the two programs (Good Morning, Arabs), which is shown on MBC1 channel, and (Sabah Al-Sharqiya), which is shown on Al-Sharqiya channel. The researcher chose a sample of (66) episodes, with (33) episodes for each program, using a systematic random sampling method from The program cycle starts from (1/1/2023) to (3/31/2023). Among the most prominent findings of the research are the following: 1) The results showed that the category of guidance and counseling (health) topics ranked first in the two programs, with (40) occurrences and a percentage of (24.09%) for the (Good Morning Arabs) program, and with (39) occurrences and a percentage of (32.77%). For the program (Sabah Al-Sharqiya). 2) The two programs focused first on the (developmental) guidance and counseling curriculum category. For the (Good Morning Arabs) program, this category came in at (91) occurrences and a percentage of (54.16%), while it came in (79) occurrences and a percentage It reached (66.38%) for the (Sabah Al-Sharqiya) program. 3) The results revealed that the two programs focused on the category (Establishing good health habits for members of society) in first place, as this category received (42) repetitions, with a percentage of (25.30%) in the program (Good Morning, Arabs), with (39) repetitions, with a percentage of (25.30%). 32.77%) in the program (Sabah Al-Sharqiya).
