Abstract

I intended to study the pilgrimage in Abu Talib’s poetry from linguistic and intellectual aspects in order to identify the most important pilgrimage concepts that were presented. The study seeks to explain the most important elements of persuasion that Abu Talib employed as he tried to convince his addressees of the validity of the ideas he was presenting. The importance of the study comes from the lack of studies on the argumentative structures in Abu Talib’s poetry, and it comes to reveal Abu Talib’s faith and monotheism or not. This is because of the many suspicions raised about his faith The study seeks to demonstrate the most important elements of persuasion employed by Abu Talib as he attempted to convince the audience of the validity of his ideas. Abu Talib's poetry is a discourse aimed at influencing the opinions and behaviors of his audience, captivating their minds, and urging them to believe and practice monotheism. This characteristic made his literature an argumentative one par excellence, as he defended the Messenger of God in every way, with words, money, and prestige. The importance of the study stems from the lack of studies on argumentative structures in Abu Talib's poetry, which seek to reveal Abu Talib's faith and monotheism. The study followed a descriptive and analytical approach.
