To explore the possibilities of applying some selected media theories in news channels and how to use these theories and determine the differences between Al-Iraqiya and Al-Jazeera news channels, and study the impact of these theories on the performance of the two channels and the audience through a case study of these two channels, as the research is based on analyzing how these two channels use media theories, and the research seeks to know how to apply the selected media theories in Al-Iraqiya and Al-Jazeera channels, and what are the theories that each of the two channels relies on and that influence the content of those channels and their editorial policy and the possibility of applying them to the target audience. The study relied on the descriptive analytical approach by analyzing the media content of news programs and political reports in both channels, focusing on the way in which media messages are constructed and the methods used to direct or shape public opinion, while comparing the orientations of the two channels in terms of independence, professionalism and diversity of sources. The comparative analytical approach was relied upon, which included comparing how media theories are applied in both channels. The research results then showed that Al Jazeera News Channel tends to apply media theories based on rumors that the public obtains from media content, through diversity of sources and in-depth investigations, while Al Iraqiya News Channel relies more on the government agenda and official orientations, which affects its ability to apply theories of media pluralism and gatekeeping. The research concluded that the difference in the orientations of these two channels stems from the difference in the media and political work environments in both Iraq and Qatar, and this directly affects how the selected media theories are applied and the possibility of employing them in covering news and events.
