Abstract

Kuwait was established in the eighteenth century. Many princes ruled Kuwait, including Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the thirteenth ruler of Kuwait, from December 31, 1977, until 2006. He held many positions during his reign and achieved various accomplishments during his reign, contributing to resolving major Arab issues. These included opening a Kuwaiti consulate in Yemen (1972-1979), and striving to achieve national unity between the two parts of Yemen. He also contributed to ending the global food crisis that affected less developed and underdeveloped countries by donating $100 million to address this crisis and develop agriculture through the Fourth Islamic Economic Forum held in Kuwait. He also contributed to supporting the Palestinian and Egyptian  cause, which occupied a prominent position under Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, providing loans and aid and sending the Kuwaiti army to support the war effort. He also played a role in strengthening Arab relations and participating in many international and regional organizations. His contribution to the Gulf Cooperation Council to achieve cultural, economic and political cooperation between the Arab Gulf states, the extent of his relationship with the United States of America and their call to resolve the issue of the Iraqi aggression against Kuwait through peaceful means and bear the responsibility of spreading security and stability between the two parties. Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah followed a successful and balanced foreign policy to resolve the conflict with Arab and Western countries. Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah had a distinguished role in the World Summit for Children in 1990, which was held in the United States of America to support the world’s children, especially those displaced by wars and disasters. Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah was keen, through his many statements, to achieve economic, political and international cooperation and stand by them in all international and Arab crises.
