This research explains the phenomenon of stylistic repetition in the poetry of Rafie Al-Bandar, through an analysis of selected samples from his two collections: Whispers in a Turbulent Time and Between the Cracks of Walls. The study focuses on the phonetic and semantic functions of repetition, considering it an artistic device that contributes to building the internal rhythm of the text and enhancing its expressive impact.
The forms of repetition in his poetry vary, including sound repetition, opening-line repetition, word, syllable, sentence, and structural repetition. This diversity in repetition adds clear semantic and rhythmic dimensions to his texts. The analysis reveals how repetition reinforces meanings and imagery, uncovers the poet’s emotions and deep inner states, and creates an emotional resonance for the reader. The poet employs artistic techniques that are closely tied to the inner musicality of the poetic text.
The study draws upon linguistic stylistic and critical approaches, both classical and modern, and highlights the significant role of repetition in shaping the artistic identity of contemporary poetic texts, concluding that repetition represents a fundamental component in forming the identity of modern Arabic poetry.
